Balanced Body Movement Principles

The Balanced Body Movement Principles form the foundation of Balanced Body Education. They include the most important information on anatomy, assessment, biomechanics and foundational exercises needed to become a successful Pilates teacher, personal trainer or movement educator. The course mixes information on how the body works with basic exercises to illustrate the information in movement. Broken down into five categories: Whole Body Movement, Trunk Integration, Lower Body Training, Upper Body Training and Mobility and Restoration, the Movement Principles provide a solid foundation for training in any environment, with any equipment. You will come away with a complete tool box for effectively training clients to recover from injuries, improve their general fitness and enhance their performance. The focus on practical understanding of common movement patterns prepares instructors to be excellent at problem solving, goal setting and learning new exercise techniques with ease.

The Ascend Difference:

IMPROVE YOUR INSTRUCTOR ABILITIES BY REACHING THE HEART OF PEOPLE

The freedom one can feel from organic movement fuels the way we teach Pilates at Ascend. We believe that in order to truly transform a body, a connection must be made with not only the client’s mind and body, but also with the instructor teaching the method.

As an instructor, applying purpose from your unique story is essential in effective teaching.

When I work with a client, I pull from my past experiences as a young Scoliotic. I rely on the memory and feeling of freedom I gained from the first Physical Therapist and Pilates Practitioner who placed me onto the Ladder Barrel and allowed my spine to decompress.

From the ages of 14-17, I was placed in a back brace, forced to maintain a position within the confines of a plastic tube for 12-20 hours each day. When I was able to take it off for my Ballet and Pilates classes, my life changed. From that feeling of complete freedom during those sessions, I learned how life changing Pilates and movement can truly be.

When I instruct today, I still pull from the emotional side and the trauma that comes from feeling “broken” and the transformation and freedom found on the other side of movement.

Drawing from this experience gives me the empathy and desire to share this freedom, one body at a time.

What makes Ascend different, in addition to my extensive experience in the Method, is challenging my instructors to get in touch with their “story” and realize the true difference their unique experience can make with EVERY person.
